Let's
make it happen!
Canada's
working people got unemployment insurance
when they made it clear to the government
they wanted it and were prepared for a fight. They got this through to their MPs locally
by writing letters, making phone calls, going
to their constituency offices. They got this
through to government leaders by supporting
their unions and backing them up when they
went to Ottawa to lobby them face-to-face
or to hold a rally on Parliament Hill.
It
worked before, let's do it again. The money's
there. Here are a few of the ways you can
help get the changes we need to make EI the
kind of modern, responsive insurance program
today's working people can rely on.
Take
political action
Tell
your Member of Parliament to make the EI Program
work for today's working families. Write a
letter. Give them a call. Visit their local
office. They will be impressed if you make
the effort.

Don't
take "no" for an answer
If
you're having problems applying for EI or
have been refused benefits, you don't have
to take it without a fight. You have a right
to appeal and we encourage you to do it. You
can contact one of the Community Unemployed
Help Centres across the country or you can
contact your union to get help from labour
representatives on the EI Board of Referees. |
